WATCH: Locals share words of encouragement for presidential hopeful Pete Buttigieg
They had some sweet things to say

By now, you’ve probably heard of Maltese-American Pete Buttigieg, who's currently running for the top seat in the White House. But how do you feel about him? Locals Nigel Caruana and Mikea Dimech hit the streets to find out, creating a video interviewing locals on Pete Buttigieg.

Their video starts off with a little bit about Malta. “Malta – island paradise in the heart of the Mediterranean. Home to a rich culture, unmatched history, and the roots of Pete Buttigieg,” they start off, all set to a dramatic song. #LuvIt

The boys set out to show the presidential hopeful “that the Maltese people are truly behind him.” They first interview a few people walking through Valletta’s City Gate, posing the question, “Who do you think this man is?” At first glance, many had answers like “I’m not really sure,” and “I have no idea.” A little shocking, right?

When asked about his profession, the list features a dancer, admin, an actor, a Malta celebrity, and (my personal fav) a priest, specifically a “serious priest like a Cappuccin.” #Dead

Nigel and Mikea nearly lost hope, but all it took was one mention of Pete’s name and those bells started ringing. “God bless him. He’s number one,” said one person, almost a little emotionally.

Support for the presidential hopefully was easily found and everyone interviewed wanted to leave a message. “Make us proud, Pete Buttigieg,” said one interviewee. “I hope that you become the President,” said a local fisherman. “I feel very happy because if he becomes the American President we can say that we have the honour of having a Maltese-American President.”

“The Maltese people are truly behind you – the only ones that can pronounce your name,” they joked.
