Malta may not be reaching the World Cup finals anytime soon, but in 2014 it was involved in a brilliant plot that led the team to go viral without scoring a single goal.

In a friendly September match between Malta and Slovakia's national themes, the stadium’s DJ made the horrible (yet highly entertaining) mistake of playing Linkin Park’s Numb instead of the Maltese national anthem, sparking laughter and applause from the crowd present. Thankfully, the DJ remedied the situation in a matter of seconds, but the unfortunate gaffe has steadily continued to entertain the masses.

Indeed, the incident was featured on several national and international news portals, including Daily Mail and Metro, and continues to be the subject of many memes to this day.
