The Group will need to go back to the drawing board.
The controversial DB Group City Centre project proposed in Pembroke (instead of the current ITS building) has had its permit revoked after courts ruled a conflict of interest in relation to one of the Planning Authority’s board members, Matthew Pace.
The decision means that the Group will need to go back to the drawing board, starting the permitting process from scratch in order to go ahead with the development.
This decision has been deemed a victory by various environmental activists and Moviment Graffiti, which organised a protest just yesterday, in which hundreds marched against what they call a “reign of developers”.
The march began at St Luke’s Hospital in Gwardamangia and ended at the Malta Developers Association in Pieta. It also comes in the wake of recent events in which a number of incidents at construction sites risked people’s lives.
