Malta's top international tenor has a memorable surprise in store for all opera lovers stuck at home.

Revealing the news on social media, Joseph Calleja said: "This coming Saturday, April 25th at 5pm Malta time, I'll be joining some great singers and colleagues, people that I love, people that are so talented," the tenor gushed, adding that the initiative was put together by the Metropolitan Opera House.

This will be the first online gala of its kind in history: " The first ever of its kind – an online gala," Joseph confirmed, adding that some of the most famous arias will be sung during the gala.

In a lighthearted moment, the tenor added: "I have no idea how it’s going to work, but it will and we’ll be singing in your living rooms, virtually of course, through your speakers through your phones, through your system at 5pm Malta time this coming Saturday. Eastern time that’s around 11am. So, make sure to log in and I’ll see you there!" he concluded.
