Friday's rainstorm wasn't enough to stop this group of Olympians and World Champions!
Malta welcomed its first ever ice show this weekend, but its open-air setting coupled with the highly volatile weather conditions proved quite the experience for skaters, organisers and audience members alike.
The sky was relatively clear as attendees made their way to their seats and although the wind occasionally blew up a gust or two, everything pointed towards a smooth-running performance. But barely ten minutes into the show, weather conditions changed dramatically with high winds and near constant rainfall hammering the production and leaving everyone involved soaked.
The performance, which featured skaters of an Olympic calibre, went ahead as planned and the athletes appeared unfazed by the heavy downpour. However, they did pass a joke or two about the weather conditions as they took their final bows, narrating how Malta had exposed them to extremes of sun and rain over a short period of time.
Ultimately, they expressed their gratitude to their audience and also hinted that it wouldn't be long till they're back on the island - but will it be for a holiday or for a second show?
Keeping my fingers crossed that it’s the latter!
