WATCH: Check out Manoel Island’s hidden WWII submarine oil bunkers
The site’s quite dangerous, to say the least.

In his latest vlog, local explorer Conrad Neil Gatt takes his followers on a virtual tour of the hidden submarine oil bunkers at Manoel Island.

Upon arrival, Conrad goes down a flight of stairs and is immediately struck by the state of these oil bunkers. Not only is everything covered in rust, but loads of oil spills can also be seen throughout the tunnels, emitting unpleasant and potentially toxic fumes – so best be careful if you visit.

The tunnels have plenty of pipes that might have been used to transport water and to fuel the submarines.

There are two main tunnels at the site, each measuring over 100 feet. They both lead to other, upward tunnels, however these were too dangerous for Conrad to visit.

The explorer finally found a relatively safe way to get to the submarine chambers, although from the looks of it, it seems like they’re empty.

Do you think the submarine base should be restored?
