WATCH: 5 times MIA's departure lounge piano made sweet sweet music
Pre-flight serenade? Yes please!

Caroline Curmi

Very little things compare to the excitement of sitting in an airport waiting lounge, but eagerly anticipating a flight can take an anxious spin for some travellers.

Luckily, the departure lounge at Malta’s International Airport has the perfect antidote – a stunning Yamaha grand piano. With thousands flocking through every single day, it’s no surprise that the beautiful instrument has been the mire of many a talented musician. Need proof? Simply scroll down!

2. You’re the droid we were looking for!

This delightful video was shared to Instagram around the same time as the final Star Wars instalment hitting local screens. Hats off to you, sir - that's some pretty fancy fingerwork right there!

3. Taking to the skies to Hans Zimmer’s Interstellar

The music is eerie and melancholic, and come to think of it may not be the best tune to calm down the pre-flight jitters, but there's something mystical about it all and we couldn't not include it. Although shot three years back, it remains one of our favourite MIA moments to date!

4. Modern classic? Yes please!

The title of the piece may be unfamiliar, but we can't deny that this footage from last November is all it takes to make you want to pick up music lessons again!

5. Christmas vibes raincheck!

We might have gotten a bit nauseous from hearing Christmas tunes, but this one is totally adorable. Add a hilarious photo bomb to it and it transforms into the perfect airport memento!

When she’s not having a quarter-life crisis, Caroline is either drawing in a café, frittering her salary on sushi or swearing at traffic in full-on Gozitan. There is also the occasional daytime drink somewhere in the equation. Or two. A creative must be allowed at least one vice.
