Wait, what?! A crazy Summer Carnival is hitting Malta’s streets this weekend

One of the most Instagrammable events of the summer is coming to a locality near you this weekend! Yes, Malta’s Summer Carnival is back for another year, and preparations are in full swing!

The deets

Organised by Festivals Malta and happening this weekend from Friday 23rd to Sunday 25th August, the carnival will be visiting localities like St Paul’s Bay, Marsaskala and Birzebbuga, putting on fantastic parades featuring 13 local floats (one of which will be making its way from Gozo) and 5 dancing schools to animate this year’s celebrations.

St Paul’s Bay

On Friday 23rd August, there will be the Gran Defile at 7.30pm at Dawret il-Gzejjer, while on Saturday 24th August, the Defile will begin from near Santana Hotel, moving along to Islet Promenade and ending at Bugibba Square.

Birzebbuga

On Saturday, the carnival will also move to Birzebbuga, with the parade starting at 7.30pm from the bus terminus, proceeding along the coast to the popular Pretty Bay.

Marsaskala

The summer carnival festivities will move to Marsaskala for the final day, where the parade will feature the Sant’Anna Band and will take on a new route starting at 7.30pm from Zonqor to Marsaskala.
