Visitors can only see patients who need to be administered last rites, starting today
It’s all in the interest of safeguarding patients

Starting today, only patients who are to be administered last rites will be allowed visitors Steward Health Care Malta announced, applicable to certain hospitals in Malta and Gozo.

In order to safeguard vulnerable patients, visitors will no longer be allowed into in-patient wards in the following locations:

1. Karin Grech Hospital (including Day Hospital)

2. Residenza Sant Anna at Gozo General

3. Male Geriatric Ward at Gozo General

“Only patients who are to be administered their last rites will be allowed visitors,” they said.

“As part of the precautionary measures being taken, Karin Grech Day Hospital appointments will be rescheduled and urgent referrals will be decided on a case-by-case basis. This will be effective as of 12th March 2020.”

Steward Health Care Malta asked for the public’s understanding during such times as they “take all measures necessary to safeguard our most vulnerable.”
