This morning, Malta’s National Blood Transfusion Service took to Facebook to make a public and urgent appeal for those that have O positive blood to come forward.

Around 103 bags of said blood are need by 6 pm today.

Those wishing to donate are to turn up at the Blood Donation centre in Guardamangia with their ID card.

The National Blood Transfusion Service said that those who have recently taken the COVID-19 vaccine or booster must wait two days before donating blood.

Those that have had symptoms, such as fever, as a result of the vaccine need to wait seven days.

On the other hand, those that have gotten diagnosed with COVID-19 can only donate blood two weeks after their quarantine period ended.

“To avoid congestion, we appreciate that for the donation of blood, only those that will be donating blood come forward. Children and companions will not be allowed to enter the Centre”, the Blood Transfusion Service wrote on Facebook.

Share this with anyone you know who is O positive!
