In recent years, Daniel Azzopardi had made a name for himself as a local fashion figure and now this Gozitan icon has taken a giant leap into the world of YouTube.
The local blogger-turned-vlogger has now morphed into a new super form, and yesterday evening he debuted his first ever YouTube video to much public acclamation. Racking in over 2,500 views overnight, the vlog capitalizes on Daniel’s trademark humour, and even involves a cameo from his mother, who in typical Maltese mum fashion, storms the set to clean the shelves in the background mid-shoot.
Daniel explains his long-awaited comeback in his caption: “Today marks a very important day in my life. Anyone who's close to me knows I've had quite the year so far, and that for a moment there life knocked me down. I quickly learned that you can't put up a smile online if that's not how you feel... it just doesn't work. But you can't keep a good man down, they say. So I took a step back and figured things out like I always do."
"But I also always knew that you don't just get better. You need to do better. And hopefully you'll feel better. Well as corny as it sounds... somewhere along the way I found something that made me happy again, that gave me some sort of drive and something to look forward to. And that is what I'm sharing with you all today: my first Youtube video. #IssaYoutuber LOL!”
Daniel admits that the 5-minuter took him way longer than he expected. "The process totalled around a week, but like I said in the video... the Youtube learning curve is very hard in the beginning. Especially with my style of editing. But it'll get easier from here on out!" Daniel enthuses.
"As corny as it may sound, I fell in love with Youtube during a time when I needed something to give me some sort of drive and purpose. So in a way I took the plunge to help myself ultimately." Daniel reflects. And his venture has paid off, with eager fans swarming around the content creator. "It has honestly been very overwhelming in the best way possible", he smiles. "I'm replying to all the people that have been in touch with words of love and support as we speak. It's extra special when people tell me I made them smile during a bad time or day. That's the goal!"
Looks like fans can now subscribe rather than follow - rock on Daniel!
