Qatar Airways have seen a thing or two from up above!

The national airline of the State of Qatar, Qatar Airways, is one of the aviation industry’s big success stories, and earlier this year, it landed in Malta (literally), commencing daily direct flights between Malta and Doha from 4th June.

Since beginning operations back in 1994, the airline went from a small regional carrier to a leading international airline, becoming one of the fastest growing carriers in the history of aviation. In fact, since their arrival in Malta, customers can reach over 160 destinations in the world via Doha! This year, Qatar Airways was named World’s Best Airline for the fifth time by the 2019 World Airline Awards and has also been named Best Airline in the Middle East, World’s Best Business Class and Best Business Class Seat – that’s a lot of titles under its belt!

And with those titles comes a wealth of experience, not to mention air miles! So, since starting operations in Malta and getting a good look of the islands from up above, we ask, what are the airline’s top aerial views of the Maltese Islands?

1. Valletta

Malta’s capital city comes as no surprise on this list – the grid-like streets of the city “built by gentlemen for gentlemen” makes for a stunning aerial view, and the surrounding Harbour is the icing on the cake.

2. Mdina

Another incredible spot on the Maltese Islands is the Medieval capital of Mdina. Perched on top of a hill, it looks equally beautiful from above as it does when experienced from the streets.

3. Popeye Village

Ever the popular spot among visitors, the picturesque set built for the 1980 Musical Production 'Popeye' has turned into quite the attraction as a theme park village and fantastic photo spot.

4. Blue Lagoon

The picturesque Blue Lagoon in Comino is one of the most visited tourist spots on the Maltese Islands, and this shot reveals why. The crystal clear waters are irresistible, and rival the most beautiful swimming spots around the world.

5. Mgarr ix-Xini

The Gozitan bay chosen as the setting for Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s melancholic film 'By the Sea' is anything but melancholic in this beautiful aerial snap! The waters of the popular bay are calling – will you answer?
