The competition held in Malta this July will showcase top notch talent.
The Malta International Music Competition will be taking place in Valletta from tomorrow, 27th July until 31st July, under the organisation of the Central Academy of Arts. Projects such as this act as opportunities for awareness, and the Malta International Music Competition does not fall short of public participation, educational promise and exposure to cultural capacity.
This year, the competition is being endorsed by the Valletta 2018 European Capital of Culture Programme, and aims to stun audiences with a selection of masterclasses with established composers, saxophonists, pianists, guitarists and more.
Bringing music to life is what the talented participants who take part in such a prestigious event are tasked with, and the competition also incorporates some Maltese heritage into the mix; a Special Prize is awarded to the musician to best perform a Maltese Composition, where a smashing 5K is awarded.
Prizes, awards and the whole competition requires top-notch jury, which comes in the form of Zhe Tang, Vladimir Ovchinnikov, Golda Vainberg-Tatz and Dmitri Bashkirov. Masterclasses are expected to stir up some interest owing to the variety of genres being explored. Be it classical, jazz, folk or even contemporary; the Masterclasses will bring about stage training in preparation for the competition, and will be broken down into specific categories. Children from 7 - 12 will join Young Category I, while teenagers Young Category II and adults in their own sector with an age limit of 33. An exclusive Masterclass called Composers Category will be in full swing solely for score writers.
