If you’re walking on by or stuck in traffic in Hal Qormi, take a moment to notice your surroundings, because you never know what you might find. One such gem is this incredible Maltese townhouse that was once home to Rev. Canon Joachim Schembri.

A Catholic priest and a Biblical scholar, the Reverend was highly regarded in society and education, having been a teacher for many years. It is said that he loved collecting things, such as old manuscripts, stamps, and coins. But as his official Facebook page states, his biggest interest, of course, was spreading the Word.

This house featured by Jean-Paul at Kappa Vision shows intricate details of the columns that surround the main door, together with traditional apertures, balconies and even a coat of arms above the main entrance.

Interestingly, on 24th May 2003, the Reverend, together with relatives, gifted this house to the Parish Church of St George in Qormi to be used as a Domus Curialis (house for the curia), with the Reverend having also been a great benefactor for the church in Malta. Unfortunately, Rev. Canon Joachim Schembri is no longer with us, passing away 13 years ago on 1st November, but his memory lives on, not least of which within this beautiful house.
