Amazing!

If this isn’t the ultimate Maltese gift, we don’t know what is! The Maltese Pastizzi Bar & Restaurant in Victoria, Australia just received an amazing gift to put in their resto.

“This magnificent piece of art was made for the restaurant by Mr Don Bezzina. Thank you so much for your donation to the restaurant. Our clientele will be amazed by the brilliant work. We are speechless, thank you. Viva Malta,” they wrote on their socials about the fantastic piece of stained glass featuring the prominent Maltese symbol.

It’s absolutely amazing! The eight-pointed cross is mainly associated with the Knights of Malta and originated as early as the 14th century and can be found on various symbols of Malta. It was on the two-mils coin of the Maltese lira (the islands’ old currency) and is now on the one- and two- Euros Maltese coins. It is coincidentally also a symbol found in Australia, being part of the state emblem of Queensland.

It is also part of our civil ensign, the Maltese naval jack and is the trademark for Airmalta, our national airline. Television Malta also uses the Maltese cross as an inspiration for their logo.
