This cool new foodie joint has just opened in the heart of Gzira & we’re already drooling!
Attention foodies, we’ve got another cool resto for you to try out! The Crew Café’ Bar has recently opened its doors in the heart of Gzira, just opposite Manoel Island, and it is the perfect summer spot to grab a tasty meal and a drink (or four!) with your mates.
Speaking to the team at the newly opened foodie outlet, I found out all the juicy deets, food-related and otherwise! First, the team at Crew indulged me in a bit of history. “The building has been in our family for generations, so much so, that it’s one of the oldest in Gzira.”
“Essentially we wanted to pay homage to these generations with our nautical theme, sleek interiors and timeless decorations that have been passed down to us.”
The concept
The Crew crew also talked about the concept of their new resto and why they decided to open. “We wanted to give people a space where they can escape the bustling streets and step into a world where old meets new and where life slows down just enough to enjoy what The Crew has to offer.” We’re intrigued already!
One question that couldn’t get out of this curious foodie’s mind was why the name ‘crew’? “It’s a family run business and we knew it would be all hands on deck when running it. The term ‘Crew’ originated because we wanted to continue steering ‘this ship’ in the right direction."
The drool-worthy food
So what can I stuff my face with at The Crew Cafe' Bar? “We’ve got a small but varied menu which we really tried to make as versatile as possible, having something to float every person’s boat. We wanted to put a spin on some old classics while also keeping some things simple. Our fish and chips dish is one of them, because ‘if it ain’t broke don’t fix it,’ as they say!”
“We hope the café ropes people in with its easy going, relaxed nautical vibes and eclectic music. It has friendly and welcoming staff, with a cosy downstairs area, as well as a terrace overlooking the Marina, offering the perfect spot to grab a drink and unwind.”
Honey, you had us at ‘fish and chips!’
