The Mayberry family, or The Wild Mayberrys as they are known on social media, are currently travelling the world full-time. Kicking off their incredibly journey last September, the family have already travelled extensively through Mexico, Spain and Portugal, and recently it was Malta’s turn.

The family unit comprises of dad Mike, mum Janelle and young sons Mason and Payton, and they are advocates of worldschooling, a form of alternative education that combines ‘classic’ education with travel. The parents explained their decision in an Instagram post: “Deciding to take this journey to travel around the world full time with our two small children is going to be an experience that may make us uncomfortable at times but the benefits, experiences and time we will be able to spend with each other while learning more about ourselves will make it all worth it in the end. At times change can be scary but we ask ourselves... if we never try and take those risks to achieve our dreams and goals we will never know, right?”

The family reviewed their experience on the Maltese Islands through a YouTube vlog which included a discussion on whether parents should bring their kids with them when they travel to Malta. “The answer to that is definitely yes! You should visit Malta with or without kids,” Mike says in the vlog, before justifying his answer: “Main reason why is because Malta is just beautiful.”

The vlog follows the family as they explore parts of Valletta, Gozo and Comino, with the latter two experienced through a joint boat tour. “I gotta say man, I’m almost at a loss for words,” capitulates Mike as the sun sets over Comino. Older son Payton also weighs in with words of praise: “the sea is beautiful!”

The Mulberry family also extended their appreciation for the Maltese islands on Instagram: “If you haven’t yet, do yourself a favour and add this beautiful place to your bucket list destinations. You won’t regret it. 😁” read one of their latest posts.

This is not the first extensive travelling experience for the family, as Janelle reveals in an Instagram post: “six weeks after having Payton we moved to Korea were Mike was stationed in the Army, and we have lived away from 'home' ever since.” Once their time is up in Malta, they are likely to move on to a new destination, spurred on by the mantra: “We have nothing to lose and a world to see.”
