Ghajnsielem in Gozo just got itself a new learning garden. This weekend, an inauguration ceremony was held for, what was previously referred to as the Gudja Playingfield. The new and improved park is now called the ‘Ghajnsielem Learning Garden’.

The former playing field has now been transformed into an education garden that symbolises a remarkable commitment to inclusion, learning, and fostering a love for nature.

The new 'Għajnsielem Learning Garden' offers a plethora of enriching features thoughtfully designed to cater to diverse interests. Physical activity enthusiasts can delight in the array of playing equipment available, encouraging active play among children and adults alike. For a multi-sensory experience, musical percussion instruments have been thoughtfully incorporated to stimulate creativity and engage the senses.

Education will take centre stage in this green haven, with informative signs about the various trees enhancing visitors' knowledge of local flora. Additionally, the garden embraces inclusivity with braille signs thoughtfully catering to visually impaired individuals.

Literature lovers can immerse themselves in the open mini library, fostering a love for reading amidst nature's embrace. For a touch of tradition and camaraderie, a boċċi pitch has been laid out, encouraging friendly competition and bonding moments.

Adding to the garden's ecological significance, 27 trees have been lovingly planted, contributing to the preservation of nature's wonders. Artistic mosaic works showcasing local butterflies lend an enchanting touch, celebrating the beauty of indigenous fauna.

Moreover, the garden caters to practical needs, featuring a sheltering canopy to shield school children from the elements while waiting for their school buses. An amphitheatre has been thoughtfully incorporated, providing a stimulating environment for open-air classes, fostering an interactive learning experience.

The successful realization of this project owes gratitude to the dedicated efforts of architects, contractors, and financial backers, notably the Gozo Action Group Foundation (GAGF) and the Department for Local Government.

Will you be visiting the ‘Ghajnsielem Learning Garden’ soon?
