Giulia Pandolfino is a Maltese swimwear designer who recently graduated from the London College of Fashion. She launched her Resortwear brand ISLE&AQUA in summer 2017 which quickly gained momentum, and its striking and easily recognisable swimwear was soon seen across Maltese beaches and beach clubs, and worn by the likes of celebrities and fashion influencers alike! We caught up with the young designer to get the lowdown on her latest collection.

Hey Giulia! What is the ethos behind your swimwear brand ISLE&AQUA?

ISLE&AQUA’s ethos is to create unique and high-end yet wearable pieces, while still keeping comfort and perfect fit in mind. With each collection, ISLE&AQUA looks towards unusual colour, rich textures and decorative features to create a range of products that are completely different to what is usually seen within the luxury and high-street swimwear market.

What can we expect from the new collection?

For #MFW19, ISLE&AQUA and local jewellery designer Yana’s Jewellery have teamed up to to present a runway collection inspired by tribal women.

The swimwear pieces being shown by ISLE&AQUA will focus on texture and geometric layering along with bold, large gunmetal rings that will act as the main design feature, and give a modern twist, whilst Yana’s Jewellery will bring bold colour combinations that compliment and contrast. These elements together will bring life to this collaborative collection.

Sounds amazing! What has been the best moment in your career so far?

What brings me most happiness is seeing girls on local beaches and beach clubs wearing ISLE&AQUA, and receiving messages expressing their happiness with their new pieces, or complimenting how great and flattering the fit is on them.

What are your hopes for the new collection?

We hope to reach an even broader audience through Malta Fashion Week, since this will be the first time presenting a full collection as a runway show.

ISLE&AQUA X Yana’s Jewellery will be showing at MFW19 on 23rd May at Fort St Elmo, Valletta. Pieces from the collection can be purchased through our e-store www.isleandaqua.com, or directly from our studio in Sliema by appointment.
