Heading north this weekend? Here’s what to know before you go.

Motorists and public transport users planning to travel through northern Malta this weekend are advised to take note of several road closures and diversions that will affect traffic in the Manikata and Miżieb areas.

Saturday 12th July – Route 101 Manikata Diversion

On Saturday 12th July, from 4 PM onwards, the centre of Manikata will be closed to traffic. This closure will directly affect Route 101 buses operating between Ċirkewwa and Mġarr.

  • Buses heading to Ċirkewwa will be diverted via Triq Ħarruba and Triq Mejjesa, bypassing the Manikata centre altogether.
  • Buses heading to Mġarr will follow the same diverted route toward Ċirkewwa, then pass via Knisja l-Qadima before returning to their regular path.

Passengers should anticipate slight delays and plan accordingly.

Sunday 13th July – Miżieb Road Closure

Meanwhile, on Sunday 13th July, Triq il-Miżieb will be closed to traffic between 6:30 AM and 10:00 AM due to a cycling event organised by the Malta Cycling Federation.

Drivers are encouraged to use alternative routes during these hours to avoid disruption.

Drive safe!
