The Malta Football Association are mourning the loss of one of their own, Tony Gambin. Mr Gambin was a former masseur who used to take care of Malta’s national team.
“We are deeply saddened by the news that Tony Gambin has passed away.,” MFA shared on socials today. “For many years, Tony was the masseur of the national senior team, earning the respect and affection of all thanks to his dedication, kindness and great sense of humour. We convey our heartfelt condolences to Tony’s family and friends. Rest in peace Tony.”
Many Facebook users commented on the post, sharing memories and offering condolences to all those who knew him. “I remember Tony in the days when I used to train at the Ta’ Qali gym. He was always there ready to help,” one person recalls.
“A great man, great masseur, easy going and so gentle in his own way and most of all a friend,” another Facebook user shared.
Andrei Agius, a local footballer also shared a message on socials. “Rest in peace dear Tony. I was lucky enough to find people like you when I started my journey in the national team first team, your words always helped and gave support.”
