Terrifying! Malta’s ‘Exterminator’ uncovers massive German wasp nest inside a home
Definitely more than just 'a little buzz'!

It’s not every day you come face-to-face with hundreds of angry wasps, but for The Exterminator, it’s all in a day’s work!

The well-known Maltese pest control expert recently shared photos of a massive German wasp nest discovered inside a residential property in Malta, and it feels like it’s Halloween all over again!

‘We really got a big one this time,’ they wrote. ‘During a recent inspection, our team uncovered a huge German wasp (Vespula germanica) nest posing an imminent danger to the clients.’

The structure was one of the largest they’ve found in recent months, housing around 400 wasps. While it wasn’t quite record-breaking, it was still enough to make anyone’s skin crawl.

The German wasp is a highly social and aggressive species, easily recognised by its yellow-and-black striped body and distinctive black dots on the face. Colonies are typically built in sheltered spaces – wall cavities, attics, even underground – and can quickly grow into complex, paper-like nests housing thousands of insects.

Known for their painful stings and defensive nature, these wasps can become a serious hazard when nesting close to homes, especially during late summer when colonies are at their peak.

Needless to say, if you ever come across such a nest, keep a VERY safe distance and let the experts handle it!

Have you ever seen one?
