Maltese athletics enjoyed a proud moment in Ravenna, Italy, where Luke Micallef produced a standout run in the Half Marathon.

Finishing in a superb 1:04:57, Luke now ranks as the second-fastest Maltese athlete ever in the event, just behind Jordan Gusman. Once confirmed, this result will also see him set a new national record in the Over-35 category; an important achievement for Maltese distance running history.

The race also featured a notable performance from Simon Spiteri, who delivered a remarkable personal best of 1:07:30. His strong showing further demonstrates the increasing depth and progress in Malta’s long-distance running scene.

Together, these achievements reflect the rising standards of Maltese athletes on the international circuit. They point toward a promising future and provide strong motivation for young and upcoming runners across the islands.
