Summer goddess much? 5 summer spots to get your tan on
You'll be bronzed in no time

Kristina Cassar Dowling

Remember those far-fetched cartoons we used to watch when we were kids? The ones where they cracked an egg on the hot tarmac and it miraculously turned into a perfectly fried egg? Well that’s how hot it gets in Malta and, after the sequence of heatwaves we’ve been experiencing, there’s sure to be another bunch of opportunities to get your tan on. Here are a few spots for you to try out!

The sandy beaches

Head north, get to the sandy bays like Golden Bay, Riviera and Ghadira early enough to find a good spot, and enjoy the soothing sounds of the waves before the beach fills up with tonnes of bums. Booking an umbrella is an option but the whole point of running to the beach is to get a tan isn’t it? Oil up and soak in those rays.

The rocky spots

The rocky spots around the islands are great for a bit of downtime - all you’ll have to focus on is the golden brown tan you’re well on your way to getting. The sea is just a short walk away from your tanning spot and the perfect way to cool down when it gets too hot - our favourites are Delimara, St Peter's Pool and Ghar Lapsi. Pack a book and dream of that beautiful olive skin you’ll be sporting soon.

Hop onto a boat

Lie belly up on your private boat; if you don’t own one, rent one - it’s worth the money and you’ll definitely enjoy some peace. This can be a remote location for you to obtain that ultimate level of zen and tranquillity while working on that sun-kissed body-ody-ody. Slap some sun cream on here though - the sun will burn holes in your soul if you’re far out at sea.

Hit it on the rooftops

If you’ve got some roof space you can lay out a sun bed. And, if that's the case, what are you waiting for? Get up to your rooftop (pull a sickie if you must) and if you’re still wandering around the island with pasty white skin, you know you really need to step up your game.

If all else fails… drive around!

The intensity of the sun on local shores is pretty insane. If all of the above seems like a bit of a hassle for you, driving around the island to and from your ‘more important’ engagements will also set you up with a tan. You know, the kind where your right arm is chocolate brown and the rest of your body never seems to catch up? Choices.

With so many options for you to try out throughout the summer, there’s no excuse not to head towards the sun, anywhere, to get that summer bod totally tanned up.
