This autumn, there’s been one phrase on every Maltese person’s lips: is it ever going to get cold?

With temperatures consistently hitting highs in the mid-twenties (if not higher) for the past couple of weeks, we’re all itching to get our winter coats out and give our summer wardrobe a well-deserved break.

Apart from that, October 2022 has even turned out to be one of the driest in the past 10 years.

Well, as it turns out, this is all set to change this very week.

That’s right! According to local weather page It-Temp Madwarna, this unusually hot and dry weather is set to persist up until Thursday 3rd November, after which point we might be getting some showers and strong winds.

“After a week of summery weather and temperatures, the anti-cyclone that has been dominating for the best part of October is set to break off into two pieces, with low pressure expected to land over Italy towards the end of the week,” It-Temp Madwarna wrote.

For us Maltese, this means that Friday 4th and Saturday 5th November might bring about some rain. Moreover, Saturday and Sunday are expected to pave the way for strong winds.

“Force Three winds will be hitting the islands from the West / Northwest until Thursday 3rd November. These will, however, get as strong as Force Seven / Eight by the end of the week.” The page continued.

Maximum temperatures will also subside to around 21°C towards the end of the week, whilst minimum temperature are expected to remain at an average of 17°C.

The ‘Maltese Islands Weather’ Facebook page predicts similar weather for this coming week, forecasting chances of evening isolated showers and morning isolated showers on Friday 4th and Saturday 5th November, respectively.
