News of 29-year-old Polish national Paulina Dembska’s murder shocked the nation last weekend.

Paulina, a Sliema resident, was tragically found dead at Independence Gardens with signs of violence ‘from the chest upwards’ and ‘around her neck’, indicating strangulation, TVM reported.

Amongst the hundreds of people who took to social media to mourn Paulina’s loss, Sliema’s stray cat feeding community was amongst the most vocal.

“Paulina Dembska, the young lady tragically murdered on New Year’s Day, was a feeder at Gnien l-Indipendenza, Sliema,” a fellow feeder wrote.

“Please, if anyone can contribute to caring for these cats she so lovingly tended to, please help by commenting on this post so that we may co-ordinate with other feeders,” she continued.

An image Paulina posted on her Facebook profile back in 2018 shows her tending to cats at the same garden where she was tragically murdered.

“Rest in peace, dear Paulina. Thanks for what you’ve done with the cats,” another feeder wrote.

At the moment, the main suspect of the murder is a 20-year-old man from Zejtun, who was arrested outside of the Balluta church.

Before getting arrested, it was reported that the suspect entered the church to cause some commotion.

Rest in peace, Paulina!
