Getting to and from Valletta will be easier for visitors attending this year’s Science in the City festival, with Malta Public Transport introducing additional services on Friday 25th and Saturday 26th September.
The special services will provide extra late-night connections from Valletta to several localities across Malta, giving festivalgoers more convenient transport options after the event at Triton Square.
Science in the City, Malta’s national science and arts festival, is expected to attract thousands of visitors to the capital for a programme of exhibitions, interactive activities and live performances.
Among the additional connections will be services to St Julian’s, Sliema, Gżira and Msida, as well as Birkirkara, Lija, Mosta, Buġibba, Rabat, Dingli, Ħamrun, Siġġiewi, Luqa, Żurrieq, Paola, Żejtun and Birżebbuġa.
The popular N13 route connecting Valletta with Sliema and St Julian’s will operate every five to 10 minutes on both evenings, with the final service leaving Valletta at 2.10am. Three additional services to Buġibba will also run after the festival to cater for increased demand.
The special services will operate alongside regular Night Routes, offering passengers further options for travelling to and from the capital.
Passengers travelling with a personalised Tallinja Card can use the special services free of charge. Other passengers will be able to purchase a €3 ticket directly on board, with both cash and contactless payments accepted.
The additional services are intended to make attending Science in the City more accessible while helping visitors enjoy the festival without having to worry about late-night transport home.
