Stormy start, sunny finish! Malta’s weather set to take a dramatic turn this weekend
Fear not, we’re back to sunny weather on Sunday!

Boom! The weekend weather across the Maltese Islands is arriving with drama, thunder, and then a glorious burst of sunshine according to Maltese Islands Weather.

Friday begins on an unsettled note, with isolated showers sweeping across the islands and strong southwesterly winds making conditions feel cooler and rougher along the coast. Temperatures will still climb to a humid 25°C, but grey skies and choppy seas will remind everyone that summer has not completely taken control just yet.

Saturday keeps the atmosphere lively as isolated thunderstorms are expected during the morning and early afternoon. Winds will shift from east-southeast to northwest, occasionally becoming quite gusty, while rough seas may affect coastal activities and boat trips. Temperatures will dip slightly to around 23°C, though the air will remain warm and muggy. Residents and visitors heading outdoors should keep an umbrella nearby and stay alert for sudden downpours.

Then comes the reward. By Sunday, the clouds finally retreat and the islands will enjoy mainly sunny conditions with calmer weather dominating the day. Northwest winds will continue, but with far less intensity, allowing the sea to gradually improve. Temperatures will remain pleasant at around 23°C during the day and 15°C overnight, creating ideal conditions for beach walks, outdoor dining, and late afternoon relaxation by the coast.

The UV index will stay extremely high throughout the weekend, reaching levels of 9 and 10, so sunscreen, hats, and plenty of water will be essential for anyone spending time outside.

Has the wind and rain ruined your weekend outdoor plans?
