Step outside! Msida Bastion Cemetery & Historic Garden opens to the public this Sunday
The gardens will be open from 9:30AM till 12:30PM.
Looking for a peaceful Sunday morning plan? The Msida Bastion Cemetery will be opening its gates to the public this Sunday 1st March, offering visitors the chance to explore the historic gardens lining the Floriana side of Marsamxett Harbour.
The gardens will be open from 9:30am to 12:00pm, inviting guests to wander through the beautifully restored grounds and discover the stories hidden behind the gravestones of this old naval cemetery.
Volunteers will be on site to guide visitors around the garden, sharing insights into its history, architecture and ongoing restoration efforts. Guided tours will be held in both English and Maltese.
Perched above Marsamxett Harbour, the cemetery is not only a place of remembrance but also a tranquil green space filled with mature trees, historic monuments and sweeping views that’ll make you feel small in the best way possible.
Visitors can also stop by a Bric-a-Brac stall, where second-hand books, plants and publications by Din l-Art Ħelwa will be available at bargain prices. Entrance is free, though small donations are welcome – all funds raised go directly towards the maintenance and preservation of this important historical site.
If you’ve never visited before (or haven’t been in a while) this Sunday offers the perfect opportunity to relax in one of Malta’s prettiest gardens.
Have you ever been there?
