The New Choral Singers, a small group of musically inclined friends which over the years expanded into a 70 strong mixed choir, are celebrating their silver anniversary and to commemorate this milestone, they are organising a concert on Friday, 25th October at 7:30pm at St John’s Co-Cathedral in Valletta.

‘A Choral Celebration’ is being co-conducted by Mauro Farrugia and internationally acclaimed conductor Wayne Marshall, who will also be performing on the organ. The evening will feature a repertoire of notable musicians, namely soprano Marouska Attard, mezzo-soprano Clare Ghigo, Sarah Spiteri leading the orchestra, Irina Fedcenko-Carbonaro on the harpsichord, and will also include Wayne Marshall on the organ.

The concert aims to showcase the choir’s musical abilities through its varied programme, which includes compositions from Antonio Vivaldi, Gabriel Fauré, Hubert Parry, and a number of a cappella works.

What is definitely bound to tickle the interest of local music fans is Wayne Marshall’s performance of his very own ‘Psalm 150’ together with the choir, as well as Mauro Farrugia’s own latest work, a ‘Te Deum’.

Entrance to the concert is free of charge however a collection will be held in aid of Caritas Malta, which itself is marking an anniversary: half a century since its inception.
