Yesterday’s feast of St Paul’s Shipwreck ended with some beautiful, natural ‘fireworks’!
Despite being 182km away from the Maltese islands, Sicily’s natural wonders can sometimes be spotted from our shores...
Just yesterday, well-known local photographer Daniel Cilia captured an erupting Mount Etna from his look-out in St Paul’s Bay.
The photo, shot at exactly 9:48pm, shows the volcano spewing hot lava with the statue of St .Paul in the foreground – talk about being in the right place at the right time!
"St Paul on his island, on his feast day, watches over the grandiose 'fireworks' display regaled to us by tonight's eruption of Her Majesty Etna," Daniel wrote on social media.
"What a grand way to finish off Malta's national feast of the Shipwreck of St Paul," he ended.
Etna is an active stratovolcano on the east coast of Sicily and is the tallest active volcano in Europe.
