Sold out! National emergency as Maltese lose their minds over Nutella’s new biscuits
It's Nutellagate in Malta!

Ever since the launch of Nutella's delicious new biscuits on the islands, it's been carnage.

Earlier this month, Head of R&D at Ferrero Briano Olivares spoke at a conference organised by the Malta Chamber, calling Malta "a very important and unique country for us to test our product", adding that the company likes to test new products out in Malta before launching them in other countries. And when it comes to these addictive confections, let's just say the Maltese liked them... like really, really liked them.

Unfortunately, they like them so much that they flew off supermarket shelves, causing a national shortage and public outcry for the devilish morsels of nuttiness.

Social media feeds have been flooded with requests for Nutella's wheels of wonder, with people asking - no, begging - for information: has anyone seen them? Have supermarkets restocked them? How far do we have to GO to get our fix??

Some have walked into stores and asked about these scrumptious biscuits, only to be told that the last packet has just been sold. Others have strolled purposefully toward designated Nutella shelves, only to find they'd been wiped clean.

Over the weekend, I personally witnessed a heartbreaking scene at one such supermarket. Tears of disappointment actually welled up in a little boy's eyes as he gazed longingly at an empty display advertising the biscuits. Come on people, think of the children!

But wait.

According to a very reputable source (yes, we mean RUBS), news is just in that SMART SUPERMARKET HAVE RESTOCKED THEM! Get in there before they disappear! But erm, maybe form an orderly queue?

Actually that's right we're Maltese - GO GO GO! Last one there's a NUTELLA-LESS LOSER!
