The Salesian Theatre, or Teatru Salesjan as it is known, has been bringing together artists, performers and youths since its inauguration in 1908. Fondly known as Sliema's community theatre, it is one of the only theatres to maintain steadfast operation of its halls throughout the years.

While it currently remains closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the theatre is virtually celebrating a special anniversary: "Today we commemorate the inauguration of the theatre. This building opened its doors to the world on May 7th 1908 - that's right! Today we are Twelve! Hundred and Twelve !!!" a post on the theatre's Facebook page read.

The post expressed gratitude for the theatre's spectacular run: "We thank all the generations of artists, producers, directors, performers,
thank you to all our volunteers and generous benefactors and sponsors. But most of all thank YOU .... our audiences - who have kept this 112 year old theatre alive and kicking," it continued.

Happy 112th birthday Teatru Salesjan!

When she’s not having a quarter-life crisis, Caroline is either drawing in a café, frittering her salary on sushi or swearing at traffic in full-on Gozitan. There is also the occasional daytime drink somewhere in the equation. Or two. A creative must be allowed at least one vice.
