She visited Malta back in 2015.

It’s not everyday you get to see someone casually wearing a traditional Maltese ghonella, but that doesn't seem to apply to the gorgeous Meghan Markle! In a recent photo shared on Twitter, the Duchess of Sussex is seen wearing the national head-dress during a visit to the island in 2015.

At the time, the former Suits actress visited our islands to trace back her heritage and ties to our country. “Coming to Malta has been really important to me because my great-great-grandmother lived here, so we’ve been trying to trace the ancestry,” she had said in an interview.

The photo of the Ghonella-clad Duchess was posted by Joe Little, the editor of Majesty Magazine, showing Meghan Markle perfectly poised, posing for a photo with the Marquis de Piro and his wife at their stately home, Casa Rocca Piccola.

Unsurprisingly, fans took to Twitter, gushing about the Duchess. “She looks so regal!”, one commented. “She looks divine,” and “She’s always doing something meaningful,” others said.

It's not news that the Duchess and the Queen share their love of Malta, but it would also seem that they also share their regal poise. You rock that ghonella, Meghan! You can read more about the traditional Maltese garment here.
