Say it ain’t so! Extreme weather warning issued for the Maltese Islands today
Mother Nature ain’t happy…

It seems like we’re in for a whirlwind two days as local weather site Maltese Islands Weather has released a thunderstorm warning, stating that “at least one severe thunderstorm is possible.” Xínhu?! Yup.

The weather warning issued is valid from 2pm today until noon tomorrow, according to the weather site. And after checking out the latest models that looked a little wack, Maltese Islands Weather decided to inform the public about what lies ahead.

“The main threat appears to be from one or two strong thunderstorms,” they said. “An area of low pressure over the Gulf of Gabes will push an unstable air mass towards the central Mediterranean. Upon coming into contact with the warm sea around us, this unstable air mass will intensify and develop and area of showers and thunderstorms.” Boo!

The weather site warns of “torrential rainfall, very strong winds and hail for some time.” Dude, Mother Nature is NOT kidding around. “At least one of the thunderstorms could be severe,” they warn, saying that if the thunderstorm misses us, we’ll still get rainfall measuring anywhere between 2.5mm to 10mm. “In the event of thunderstorms affecting us, total rainfall may exceed 30mm.” Yikes!

While we love a good rain shower, sitting indoors with a cuppa joe and a good movie on, it’s not quite the season yet. We’d like to enjoy the few trickles of summer left, before thunderstorms become the norm. So, Mother Nature, please hold off a little. Sincerely, literally every Malteser.
