Sharing the moment on her socials, Roberta Metsola described the meeting as a meaningful exchange, writing: ‘A meaningful morning at the Vatican during an audience with His Holiness Pope Leo XIV. Grateful for his clarity of purpose and for our shared reflections on advancing peace through dialogue across Europe and the world.’

Pope Leo XIV, who was elected during the 2025 conclave, has already begun welcoming Maltese representatives to the Vatican. In recent months, Malta’s National Football Team paid a visit in November, followed by Prime Minister Robert Abela, who met the Pontiff in December.
