Roads to rivers! Four crazy scenes from Malta’s biggest autumn storm
Mother Nature sure showed us who’s boss!

Looking out of the window now you wouldn’t think that, just a couple of hours ago, the entire island was basically submerged in water.

As one would expect, this morning’s thunderstorm led to some very weird, whacky, and downright questionable sights – that’s why we’re now rounding up our four favourite quintessentially Maltese sights from today’s stormy shenanigans.

Here we go!

1. A bulldozer doubling up as a bucket

As rubble caused the Coast Road to come to a standstill, a nearby bulldozer doubled up as a bucket to clear up the road.

2. A corner for lost number plates

Phillip PH shared images of the classic bunch of stray number plates after some heavy rain.

3. A modern solution to an age-old problem

Maltese Roads Traffic Updates shared a solution to an age-old question: manhole won’t stay closed? Two bricks will do the job!

4. A brand-new urban river

Turns out Msida’s now home to a new hub for biodiversity…

What was the strangest thing you saw during this morning’s storm?
