The windmill dates back to 1724.
Zurrieq’s historic Xarolla Windmill will be benefitting from some well-needed restoration works, after it was severely damaged by the winds that struck the country on 19th March.
This was revealed by Minister of Public Works and Planning Stefan Zrinzo Azzopardi just yesterday.

Once the works are completed, the windmill will be fully operational once again and will be welcoming any tourists and locals willing to visit.
The restoration works are set to be completed by the end of the year and will cost around €10,000.
The Xarolla Windmill was built in 1724, when the Knights of St John ruled over the islands. Back then, the Order was led by Portuguese Grandmaster António Manoel de Vilhena.
Will you be checking the windmill out once it’s restored?
