Rain on the horizon? Malta’s weather to become unstable this week
Mother Nature, you ok?

So far, we haven’t had an outrageous heatwave that, as we say, could fry an egg on the pavement. And while we’ll still be feeling that warm summer heat, it seems that the weather on the Maltese Islands could become a little unstable this week.

According to it-Temp Madwarna, a “high Atlantic pressure weaker than usual will give way to a formation of bad weather and low pressure,” which will be making its way to the Med towards the end of the week. “These will cause bad weather in the south of Italy and in Sicily, and possibly even in Malta on Saturday.

It-Temp Madwarna also note that this week, we should experience usual sunny, stable and calm weather (and boy, are we feeling it!). However, on Saturday we should experience a fresher atmosphere as clouds will be forming and wind will be blowing. The weather site also noted that some light rain on Saturday isn’t being ruled out.

Another local weather site, Maltese Islands Weather, also reported that we will have some unstable weather this weak, even noting that it’s been “unseasonably cool over the past week, with mean temperatures some 1.7°C below the average for this time of year.”

“Temperatures across the Maltese Islands will warm up over the next couple of days. Daytime highs will be in the range of 30°C to 32°C, whilst nighttime lows will vary from 22°C to 24°C,” they note.

“The more unstable atmosphere is expected to generate several thunderstorms over Sicily by the weekend. We should expect partly cloudy skies locally. Remnants of any thunderstorms over Sicily may drift south, possibly bringing a brief isolated light rain or drizzle to our shores on Saturday 18/07.”
