If you’re looking to experience something different this weekend, we’ve got just the thing! The Franciscan friars at Knisja Santa Marija ta’ Gesu in Rabat will be celebrating the feast of St Francis in the best way possible. After the mass on Sunday, a blessing of animals will take place in the streets and is open to the public. Cool, right? And totes on theme, considering St Francis is closely associated with animals.

But it doesn’t stop there! They’re also giving back to society, donating whatever they collect to Bjorn and Maria Formosa, local advocates for the disease ALS. “For the third consecutive year, the Feast of Saint Francis will be in aid of ALS Malta,” the church’s event description says.

“The donations collected during Saturday 12th’s and Sunday 13th’s mass, together with the donations from the animals’ blessing will be given to Bjorn and Maria in order to give our contribution to the second DAR Bjorn.”
