Standing at the very heart of Valletta, the Grand Master’s Palace is a magnificent sight to see. Whether you have never visited the Palace before or you’re due for your next visit, Heritage Malta is organising an open weekend between Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th of April. This open weekend will commemorate the fourth anniversary of His Excellency George Vella as President of Malta.
Besides having the opportunity to witness the Palace’s grandiose beauty, the open weekend will host a photography exhibition, titled ‘Presidenza b’Differenza’ (Presidency with a Difference) held on-site to provide insight into the current Presidency.

The exhibition title is based on the phrase from President George Vella’s inaugural address on 4th April 2019, ‘’Mine will be a silent Presidency, an impartial Presidency, that serves as a moral guide for our country and a source of national unity.”
The exhibition will provide a detailed look at the initiatives taken by President George Vella and his office since the beginning of his administration, while also honouring successes, sharing commitments, remembering events, and providing insight into some behind-the-scenes activities.
The exhibition, which will be held at the Uccelliera, will be divided into four sections: The Presidency and its Challenges; The Presidency and Identity; The Presidency of Dialogue; and A Presidency that Listens.

Apart from viewing this anticipated exhibition, the public will also witness the restoration work at the Grand Master's Palace's current state, which is currently nearing completion. Such areas include the Piano Nobile corridors, as well as, several staterooms that have been restored.
Visitors can explore the signed pathways on their own or else opt for a guided tour. There will be two tours on Saturday in English and three tours on Sunday (one in Maltese & two in English). No pre-booking is required but tours will be available on a first-come first served basis.
During the open weekend, the Grand Master's Palace will be free to see, although donations to the Malta Community Chest Fund will be appreciated. The hours of operation are 10:00–17:00, with the last admittance at 16:00.
