Popular Maltese singer-songwriter weighs in on local construction & planning situation
Everyone’s getting a tad rattled by these events

As beautiful as Malta is, current construction trends are threatening to overshadow the island’s natural and historic beauty.

Locals have been waging an online war on the situation for ages, and popular singer Corazon Mizzi has recently joined the debate by sharing a personal experience: “When you ask the Malta Planning Authority, ‘but why can’t I widen my garage entrance or leave aluminium on my façade when the entire street has aluminium and new façades?’, they reply with: ‘True, but you have to start from somewhere’,” she wrote on her Facebook page, continuing that: “Even here, I have to start from somewhere.”

Corazon included a picture of what appears to be a proposed design for a block of apartments adjacent to a string of town houses. Her post generated much commentary about the current situation, with many sharing images of other incongruent street designs observed around Malta.

What's your take on the situation?

When she’s not having a quarter-life crisis, Caroline is either drawing in a café, frittering her salary on sushi or swearing at traffic in full-on Gozitan. There is also the occasional daytime drink somewhere in the equation. Or two. A creative must be allowed at least one vice.
