Planning a beach BBQ in Marsaxlokk this summer? Here's what you need to know about gazebo & BBQ zones
If you're dreaming of setting up a gazebo for a chill day by the sea or hosting a sizzling summer BBQ in Marsaxlokk, make sure you're doing it by the book. The Marsaxlokk Local Council has just released updated guidelines and maps for designated gazebo and BBQ zones across three popular swimming spots: Il-Magħluq, L-Għar l-Aħmar and the swimming zone near Triq il-Power Station.
In shared maps issued by the council, green zones indicate where BBQs and gazebos are allowed, while red zones show where they are prohibited.
Each green area is clearly marked with signage on-site, and for gazebos, numbered signs indicate exactly where you can pitch your shade. These numbers correspond to the one on your issued permit, making it easy to identify your assigned spot.
To legally set up a gazebo or host a BBQ, you must obtain a permit in person from the Marsaxlokk Local Council or online via localpermits.gov. Permits help ensure public safety and cleanliness, especially during the busy summer months.
Setting up outside the designated areas or without a permit? You could face a fine of up to €70 per person. So, be sure to stick to the marked zones and respect the rules!
The council also encourages all visitors to dispose of waste properly and be mindful of others enjoying the beach. Whether you're flipping burgers or just relaxing under your gazebo, keeping the space clean and respectful is key to a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone.
