Plan ahead! Road leading up to Mdina will be closed as of TODAY for several weeks
Detour alert!

Jillian Mallia

If you’re heading to Siggiewi, Zebbug and Malta’s Silent City, Mdina, you might need to plan a different route. The second phase of the Triq il-Buqana project has started as of today.

Infrastructure Malta took to Facebook to spread the news of the roadworks ahead. “Access to the southbound lane of Triq il-Buqana from Mosta and Mgarr will be closed for several weeks whilst we rebuild it along with the first half of the Chadwick Lakes Bridge.”

The organisation recommends following new sign postings regarding diversion routes when travelling from Mosta and Mgarr towards Mtarfa and Rabat. The best route to take is through San Pawl tal-Qliegha, i.e. Ta’ Qali, passing by the MFCC and National Stadium. From there, you will get to the roundabout that will take you to either Zebbug, Mtarfa or Mdina. Your journey will continue as usual from there.

Just a little detour, but it’s best to plan your routes beforehand!
