If you’re planning to head to the Summer Carnival celebrations in Buġibba this weekend, be aware that several roads will be closed and bus routes diverted. The closures and diversions mentioned will take effect on Friday 22nd August and Saturday 23rd August, at 4 PM till midnight both days.

The roads Dawret il-Gżejjer and Triq it-Trunciera will be closed to traffic during the festivities.

Also, buses heading to Bugibba will be diverted via Triq il-Korp tal-Pijunieri (near the cinema). From there, routes will continue straight before turning right into Triq Qalb ta’ Ġesù. Drivers will then keep left, turn right into Triq is-Sajjieħ, continue to the end of the road, and turn left onto Triq it-Turisti, leading directly to the Buġibba Terminus.

After serving the terminus, buses will return via Triq it-Turisti, turning right onto Dawret il-Qawra to rejoin the normal route.

This means that the following bus stops will not be served during the diversions – check whether yours is listed below:

Mwiezeb (956/1023), Imħasel (958/1022), Toni (6013), Aristarku (6288), Gilleru (6014), Anthony (944/6287), Qroll (943), Pagell (6359), Moll (6193), Rizzi (946), Ħalel (6284), Sajf (947), Gżejjer (948/6351), Ben (949/6283), Arznel (6282), Qawra (952), Boxxla (6330), Fugass (6280), Wileg (6279).

With the Summer Carnival expected to attract big crowds, travellers are encouraged to plan their journeys in advance and allow for possible delays.

Will you be heading to the carnival this weekend?
