Take note! Valletta Port closures to impact Gozo Highspeed ferry schedule during Fireworks Festival
Plan your trips in advance!

Passengers travelling between Gozo and Valletta are being advised to plan ahead as Gozo Highspeed has announced temporary service disruptions later this month.

The changes are due to the Malta International Fireworks Festival, which will lead to the closure of Valletta Port on April 20th, 25th, and 30th for safety reasons.

According to the updated schedule, the last trips before the suspension will depart Valletta at 11:45, arriving in Gozo at 12:30, while the final departure from Gozo will be at 12:45, arriving in Valletta at 13:30. Services will then be temporarily halted during the fireworks displays.

Passengers are encouraged to check schedules in advance and allow extra time for their journeys, particularly on affected dates. To avoid inconvenience, travellers are also urged to book tickets online, with reservations available up to 30 minutes before departure.

The temporary changes are expected to attract large crowds to Valletta’s Grand Harbour, where the festival is set to deliver spectacular displays, making early planning essential for those relying on ferry services.

Will you be attending the Malta International Fireworks Festival this month?

16th April 2026
