Did you catch last night’s breathtaking full moon? If not, don’t worry Maltese photojournalist Darrin Zammit Lupi had his lens ready, and the results are nothing short of magical.

In a post shared on his social media, Darrin wrote: It had been a while since I witnessed and photographed such a spectacular moonrise. I've been wanting to get this angle for ages, and tonight didn't disappoint.’

The stunning images showcase the June Strawberry Moon rising in all its glory behind two of Valletta’s most iconic landmarks the steeple of St Paul’s Anglican Cathedral and the majestic dome of the Basilica of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. Shot from Sliema, the composition offers a dreamy and cinematic view of Malta’s capital silhouetted by the glowing moon.

The Strawberry Moon, named by Native American tribes as a marker of the wild strawberry harvest, ironically isn’t pink, but it certainly inspires just as much awe with its golden, summery glow. This lunar event is the last full moon of spring, making it extra symbolic and special for stargazers and photographers alike.

Darrin, known for his incredible eye and decades of work capturing local and global moments, continues to shine a light quite literally on the beauty of Malta through his lens.

Where did you witness last night’s Strawberry Moon from?
