One less hassle! Special bus service announced for Gozo’s Nadur carnival THIS weekend
Admittedly there’s always a bit of a queue in Cirkewwa on Fridays, but tomorrow’s is set to be longer than normal due to the infamous carnival celebrations happening in Gozo this weekend.
To counter this, a special bus service has been announced to cater for this annual event, which aims to reduce the number of cars queuing to cross the Gozo Channel and provide a car-free alternative for foot passengers.
Friday 21st February
A shuttle service between Mgarr Harbour and Nadur will kickstart at 7pm and run till midnight. It will depart after every ferry docking, irrespective of the fact if it’s on schedule or operating on shuttle service. Departing every 30 minutes between 8pm and midnight, a direct bus service will also be available from Victoria to Nadur.
For after, six special routes will depart from Nadur at 1pm and between them will cover all localities in Gozo, including Mgarr Harbour. Route N11 from Cirkewwa to St Julian’s via Bugibba will operate normally, departing every 30 minutes between 11.05pm and 2.05am.
Saturday 22nd February
A similar service is announced for Saturday but with some exceptions: the direct bus service between Victoria and Nadur will depart every 15 minutes and there are two scheduled home trips: one at 1pm and another at 2.30pm.
Additionally, extra bus services will be provided from Cirkewwa till 4am. Their departure will coincide with the ferry timetable and routes will cover Valletta (S41), Valletta via Birkirkara bypass and Msida skatepark (S49), Bugibba (S221) and Sliema Ferries (S222).
Sunday 23rd February
While there will be no additional link between Mgarr Harbour and Nadur, a direct bus service from Victoria to Nadur will operate every 30mins between 8pm and 11pm.
Home journeys will be covered by six special routes (which between them cover all the island) and is scheduled to depart at midnight.
Happy carnival season & safe travels y'all!
