Malta’s skies are about to light up one last time as the 2025 Malta International Fireworks Festival prepares for a show-stopping finale, taking place tomorrow, Wednesday 30th April at the Grand Harbour – and this year’s closing night promises to be the most spectacular yet.

Eighteen fireworks teams (17 local and 1 international) will deliver a breathtaking display of light and colour, culminating in a synchronised pyrotechnic sequence enhanced by over 500 drones, a first for the Maltese Islands. Leading the final act is renowned international pyrotechnics company PyroEmotions, who will be introducing Malta to state-of-the-art drone firework technology.

The final night also celebrates a significant national milestone – the 21st anniversary of Malta’s accession to the EU – and will feature past festival champions such as Għaqda tan-Nar Kerċem, alongside several standout teams from the festival's earlier competitive nights on 22nd and 25th April in Valletta, and 27th April in Nadur, Gozo.

New to this year’s edition, the festival will feature live performances from local band clubs. Wednesday’s crowd can enjoy a musical performance by the Soċjetà Mużikali tal-Karmnu Balluta A.D. 1987, adding even more atmosphere to this celebratory event.

Tomorrow will also see the announcement of the 2025 Malta International Fireworks Festival winners, honouring the most impressive teams from this year’s highly competitive line-up.

If you’re thinking about driving, expect road closures and diversions around Quarry Wharf and Lower Barrakka from 4PM to 12AM, so plan ahead and arrive early to secure your spot.

If you plan on taking the bus, a special late-night bus service will operate following the fireworks, with trips starting from 11:30PM to various localities including Paola, Mosta, Żebbuġ, Qawra, Marsaxlokk, Dingli, Żurrieq, Sliema, and more.
