OMG! This local singing duo will be opening for the BBC Concert Orchestra at the Granaries
OMG! Local singing sister duo The New Victorians will be opening for the BBC Concert Orchestra on our very own Granaries next week. Now that’s a big deal!
Speaking to Philippa, one half the sister duo, she told me about this fantastic opportunity. “We’re the supporting act and will be performing a 30-minute set before the Orchestra head on.” The song-writing sisters have performed in various local shows and have recently put on a fully-fledged performance dedicated to the local event of Sette Giugno. Their soulful music blends their classical foundation and pop to create an electronic indie sound most recognisable for its haunting harmonies and heartfelt lyrics.
The event, Lights! Camera! Malta!, will be held on 17th July at the Granaries in Floriana. The spectacular show, with its 70-piece BBC Concert Orchestra conducted by Richard Balcombe, features music form movies made in Malta such as The Da Vinci Code and Gladiator, as well as scores from other classic films such as Out of Africa and The Magnificent Seven. Today’s most popular film songs will also be featured from The Greatest Showman, Bohemian Rhapsody and Mary Poppins Returns. Eeeep! Sounds amazing!
And that’s not all! A spectacular fireworks finale to the Main Themme from Star Wars will be shown. This will truly be a fab night!
